WEB AUTHORING DIPLOMA
The extended use of sophisticated software applications to create web sites (such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage and others with similar functionality), while helping web authors to productively create satisfactory quality web content, it deprives them from the capability to have complete control over the produced result. Another drawback is that web authors are limited by the features of these applications (hence they produce sites using a limited set of effects), while the existing incompatibilities among web browsers appear often difficult or impossible to overcome. A tour in Internet can prove that sites present more similarities than individuality, which is a sine qua non condition of success within the conditions of "attention economy".
The proposed seminars are aiming, in their first part, to cover a considerable amount of this knowledge void by providing the necessary training for direct HTML, DHTML and JavaScript programming, as well as a short introduction to XML. The World Wide Web is moving fast towards a direction which is transforming it to a virtual space where multimedia content and interactive features become more and more prominent. This trend imposes the need to use streaming video, audio and animation applications. The second part of the proposed seminars aims to provide adequate training in using web multimedia creation applications, such as Macromedia Flash, RealAudio, RealVideo and Microsoft Media.
These seminars will including the necessary theoretical background, they will give emphasis on the practical aspects and the transfer of knowledge resulting from real-world experience. They will also provide extensive additional sources of relevant information in Internet.

Course Description
The course was intended to give competences in managing the audiovisual production process in terms of human allocations and technological resources organisation. The Course gave instruments to manage and used technologies in order to produce advanced audiovisual products.
The course was structured in two main activities, a distance learning path (through the e-learning platform) and a face to face practical activities:
Training sessions through Open Distance Learning broadcasted on the web based e-learning platform
Didactic Visit, practises and laboratories activities in Italy
Participation of the users/students selected to significant seminars or workshops at European level
The course consisted of 7 Didactic Modules. Each Module was made up of video lessons. Each video lesson was connected and integrated into a complete Internet based learning environment. An introduction Module, giving an overview of course main goals and objectives, course structure and e-learning methodologies for distance learning, introducing the user to the course methodology and e-learning instruments, while the last one consisted in the presentation of the project works edited by students during the practical sessions. The other modules were conceived to give theoretical and practical instruments to manage the entire audiovisual and movies production process. The main core gave a general overview of the new technologies market trends at European level in the “The European Audio-Visual Market”, as well as instruments for planning and realization audiovisual products, process of production and post-production management in “Projecting an audiovisual digital product” and “The audiovisual digital product post-production process”.
The “New technologies and audiovisual products” module transferred practical skills in computer web, computer graphics and virtual reality. Some basic strategies of international distribution and marketing for audiovisual products were included in “Audiovisual Project Distribution and Marketing”.
