On October 20th, 2004, Rutger Beke, one of the world's best triathlon athletes, returns form Hawaii to Zaventem, the Brussels National Airport in Belgium. He had become fifth in the Iron Man, which is called the biggest competition on earth, the world championship of triathlon. The media are expecting him in their numbers. The press smells blood. The news that Rutger Beke was caught using EPO, has been leaked. There at the airport, surrounded by a pack of journalists, he denies furiously. Being extremely agitated, this leads to some doubts. The results of the EPO-test by the World Anti Doping Agency clearly indicate the presence of exogenous EPO in his blood. But what are the precise test results? The scientific search will go on for several months. Rutger Beke is suspended and reviled, but he keeps denying all along. Does he lie or is he speaking the truth?
