The cataclysm happened on 26th December 2004 in South-East Asia is one of the worst natural catastrophes in the history of mankind. What has really happened for such an earthquake to provoke such gigantic sea waves and such powerful tides? Is a similar phenomenon plausible under our latitudes? And what can scientists do not only to rebuild all of the human activities (especially fishing) but also in order to reduce the dramatic consequences of an eventual new earthquake? Many Belgian scientists are working on these issues and are trying to find some answers...
