Launched in 2005 with EU support, AthenaWeb is a video portal aimed at all European audiovisual communication professionals in the areas of science and research. Contributors and users of the service include institutions, universities, laboratories, corporations, not-for-profit organisations, and of course the television and film industry (journalists and documentary makers, producers, people who commission TV programming, etc.). In the course of 2007, communications agency Lab To Media will oversee AthenaWeb’s transformation into a veritable television station for European science on the internet with more content, better accessibility and more services aimed at a widening user base of researchers, teachers and professors, and at strengthening the community of science communicators and broadcasters in Europe..
