When are a person’s latent capabilities at their highest? The latest science has unveiled a
surprising answer. Indeed, although a baby between 8 months and one year old is usually
perceived as nothing else but sweet and innocent, the fact is, during that period the brain has
the highest latent ability the infant will have in its entire life. An infant can even identify subtle
differences in pronunciation of a foreign language that an adult cannot identify. It can also
distinguish the differences between the faces of monkeys which, in the eyes of an adult, all
look the same. Using the latest measuring techniques, scientists are uncovering the
wondrous process of an infant's growth.
